$1 Million Settlement in Wrongful Death Case

We are proud to announce that two of our attorneys, Paul M. da Costa and Mitchell A. Dornfeld, have successfully settled a wrongful death lawsuit for $1,000,000.00 on behalf of the estate of a 66-year-old man who tragically lost his life after a fall at his East Orange apartment complex. While returning home, he tripped over a rubber tube protruding from a wall in a poorly lit alleyway—an object with no architectural, plumbing, engineering, or other purpose.

The fall caused a traumatic brain bleed that worsened over the next 30 hours, ultimately proving fatal. Despite the defense’s attempts to blame blood thinners and alleged intoxication, we demonstrated that the true cause was a dangerous and preventable condition negligently left unaddressed by the property owner.
