Sarno da Costa D’Aniello Maceri Webb LLC Partner, Paul M. da Costa, has been named to the 2025 NJBIZ Law Power 50 list.  This marks the second year in a row that Paul has been selected for the prestigious list.  Paul was described as being “[r]enowned for his expertise in medical malpractice and wrongful death cases,” and NJBIZ noted that “he is widely recognized as one of the most respected and feared trial attorneys in the state.”

The NJBIZ Law Power 50 list is compiled by the NJBIZ editorial staff based on their reporting throughout the past year along with input from experts in a variety of fields, and recommendations from their readers.  The editorial staff looks for people who have gained public attention – and perhaps acclaim – for their professional accomplishments and public service.  The list is comprised of New Jersey’s most reputable and high-profile attorneys.  Among the other attorneys on the list, Paul has the distinction of being one of only two attorneys who represent plaintiffs, and he is the only attorney that specializes in medical malpractice and personal injury cases on behalf of plaintiffs.

Paul, the managing partner of the firm’s Medical Malpractice and Personal Injury practice areas, is a certified civil trial attorney by the Supreme Court of New Jersey, and he is the Chairman of the New Jersey Supreme Court’s Civil Certification Committee.  Paul is a member of invite only trial attorney associations, such as the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) and the Litigation Counsel of America.  As of December 2025, Paul will be the President of the ABOTA North Jersey chapter.  Paul also currently serves as the Secretary of the Seton Hall School of Law’s Board of Visitors.  He has been selected for inclusion in New Jersey Super Lawyers Top 100 list in the years of 2020-2025. In addition, Mr. da Costa has also been selected for inclusion in Woodward White’s The Best Lawyers in America in 2020-2025 for the fields of Medical Malpractice Law – Plaintiffs and Personal Injury Litigation – Plaintiffs. In 2025, Paul was chosen as the Attorney of the Year for medical malpractice – plaintiffs and personal injury – plaintiffs by Best Lawyers.  The National Law Journal selected Paul M. da Costa and his Medical Malpractice Department for its prestigious 2022 Elite Trial Lawyers Awards in the medical malpractice category. The New Jersey Law Journal has also selected Paul as a finalist for the 2022 New Jersey Legal Awards “Attorney of the Year.” In their profile article, “Paul da Costa Harnesses ‘Immense Power to Cause Change’ as a Trial Litigator,” the New Jersey Law Journal described Paul as a “formidable litigator” and noted that he was selected as a finalist for “his high-impact – and high-profile -work.”

Through his tenacious and diligent advocacy, Paul makes it his priority to “right the wrongs” that have been forced upon his clients. He is not afraid to take cases to trial because he is a firm believer that pursuing the truth through litigation will prevent potential future wrongs.
