Arnaldo J. Pacheco

Senior Associate

Medical Malpractice & Personal Injury

Overview

Arnaldo J. Pacheco, Esq. is a Senior Associate within the Medical Malpractice and Personal Injury Departments at Sarno da Costa D’Aniello Maceri Webb LLC, where he works as part of the Firm’s senior-led medical malpractice and personal injury team. Arnaldo and the team handle wrongful death and catastrophic injury cases that often garner media attention and are high-stakes litigation matters. As a reflection of the work the Firm’s Medical Malpractice and Personal Injury Departments handle, Best Lawyers® has designated the department as a “Tier 1” medical malpractice and personal injury firm in New Jersey.

Arnaldo’s role is hands-on and substantive. He is regularly involved in the early evaluation and development of medical malpractice cases, working closely with department leadership to shape liability theories, distill extensive medical records into usable trial narratives, and prepare matters for expert-driven litigation. His work reflects a practical understanding of how medical malpractice cases are built and prosecuted.

A distinguishing feature of Arnaldo’s background is his prior experience representing physicians and hospitals in medical malpractice defense matters. That training continues to influence his plaintiff-side work, particularly in anticipating institutional defenses, identifying and evaluating liability and causation issues early, and diligently preparing cases with the expectation that they will be aggressively litigated.

Arnaldo has worked on a range of complex matters, including litigation arising from systemic failures in veterans’ healthcare facilities, where issues of institutional negligence, delayed diagnosis and treatment, and wrongful death intersect with layered liability and extensive medical documentation. He was part of a trial team that presented a spinal surgery matter before a jury, a case concerning improper placement of pedicle screws causing post-surgical neurological injuries, which resulted in a jury verdict of $4.5 million.

In addition to his New Jersey practice, Arnaldo maintains active bar admission in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the Federal District Court of Puerto Rico and is currently working wrongful death drowning cases in the Federal District Court of Puerto Rico. This bi-jurisdictional experience is particularly valuable in cases involving Spanish-language records and documents, or clients who have been injured or suffered untimely and wrongful deaths in Puerto Rico. He is fluent in English and Spanish and proficient in Portuguese, allowing him to work directly with clients, families, and providers across multiple linguistic and cultural contexts.

Arnaldo approaches each matter with the understanding that strong results are achieved through disciplined case development, clear communication within the litigation team, and diligent preparation for trial. His work is closely integrated with the Firm’s senior attorneys, ensuring continuity, efficiency, and strategic alignment throughout the life of a case.

Arnaldo is admitted to practice in New Jersey and Puerto Rico and is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, the New Jersey Association for Justice (NJAJ), and the Hispanic Bar Association of New Jersey (HBA-NJ). Arnaldo is also closely involved with the Puerto Rican Association for Human Development (PRAHD), an organization that focuses on providing human services to the Latino community in New Jersey. In particular, he volunteers as a tennis coach for the organization’s summer program for children. In 2024, Arnaldo had the distinction of being selected as the recipient of PRAHD’s signature Robert Clemente Award, an award given for outstanding involvement and impact within the community. Arnaldo has also been highlighted on the Best Lawyers®: Ones to Watch list (2023-2026) and Super Lawyers® New Jersey Rising Stars.
