Sarno da Costa D’Aniello Maceri Included in NJLJ’s Personal Injury Top Awards 2022
Paul M. da Costa, Partner and head of the firm’s Medical Malpractice/Personal Injury Department, and his team were recognized as having two of the top 20 largest personal injury awards in the state of New Jersey as ranked by New Jersey Law Journal’s “Personal Injury Top Awards 2022.”
Sarno da Costa D’Aniello Maceri LLC was recognized as being involved in this year’s largest personal injury award totaling $52.9 million. Paul represented 72 of the 119 cases on behalf of veterans who died of COVID-19 in two New Jersey Veteran’s Homes.
The firm also was responsible for number 7 top award with a $6.2 settlement for a viral outbreak at The Wanaque Center, a long-term care center for chronically ill children, that resulted in multiple fatalities. Paul represented the families of 13 children, 7 who died, due to the outbreak. As a result of the cases brought before the Passaic County Superior Court, new legislation was enacted by the New Jersey Legislature requiring all long-term care facilities to formulate infectious disease outbreak response plans.
